Rotary Club of Guelph-Trillium

StreetKeepers International

Director:  Scott vanEngen

The Foundation director guides and assists the members of this club in developing and carrying out International Service Projects.  There is currently 5 subcommittees operating in this area of responsibility.

Rotary Foundation Funds:
This committee promotes the Rotary Foundation to the club members.  They provide members with information on the work of the Foundation, ways to contribute, and the benefits of annual contributions.

International Program Development:
This subcommittee works to locate new international programs/projects that fit within the club's annual goals/mandate and which also, where possible, qualify for funds under the Rotary Foundation Matching Grants program.

Dr. Jim Thompson Scholarship:
Several years ago, a fund was established to finance an annual scholarship for the education of a young student in Nepal.  The club currently sends a young boy, Berat, to school by paying for his tuition, housing and school uniform.

Youth Exchange Program:
This subcommittee annually evaluates the ability/interest of the club in hosting an exchange student.  When sufficient members are interested, this committee organizes the host families and counsellors and ensures that the student's needs are met during their stay.

StreetKeepers:
This committee acts as a liaison between the club and the StreetKeepers organization.

Opportunity Village:
This committee organized in 2006/07 is furthering our relationship with Sister Vandana and Opportunity Village to construct a greenhouse for them.
