Who We Are

Who We Are:

The Rotary Club of Guelph-Trillium has a membership of about 50 people from various local businesses and professions.  We have men and women from the fields of Accounting, Financial Advice, Banking, Engineering, Family Medicine, Dentistry, Teaching, Construction and General Contracting, Music, Travel, Public Administration and Urban Planning, just to name a few.

About 40% of our membership is female and we have a fairly uniform distribution of age from early 30’s to mid 80’s.  We also have an even distribution of new, mid-experience and seasoned members contributing to the vitality of the Club.

Our main fundraiser is Guelph Ribfest, an event started in 1998, that has grown to be one of Guelph’s premier events.  The Ribfest Committee operates year round but every member is involved at some point either before, during or after the event.  It is held in August, the weekend before Labour Day weekend.

However, there are many other committees, projects and events which allow every member to pursue his or her particular interest.  New members often come with new ideas that are embraced by the Club, expanding our horizons, and broadening our impact on people, places and situations.

We were formed in 1991, the third of four Clubs in the City of Guelph.  We were the first breakfast club, reflecting the changing business and personal lives of modern families.  In a fast paced society, the traditional luncheon or dinner meeting was often a major barrier to the expansion of Clubs.  An hour-long breakfast meeting before the beginning of the workday suits the schedule of a lot of today’s business and professional people.

The Trillium name was chosen both because it is an early flower (reflecting our early meeting time) as well as the floral emblem of the Province.
